When you follow basic eye care routines every day you hedge against an assortment of preventable or delayable eye diseases. One condition, not necessarily defined as a disease (but could be an indicator of a problem) is dark circles around the eyes. So, let’s get to some basic everyday lifestyle routines that promote good vision health.

Eyes are one of the most important vital organs in the body. Avoid rubbing your eyes and practicing frequent hand washing will greatly protect your eyes. Regularly applying SPF to skin will prevent sun damage. Protecting your eye from the sun in comparison to the rest of the face, the skin around the eyes is 10% thinner. Moisturizing everyday gives a healthy glow that will help conceal any already present imperfections.

When you are deprived of sleep, your body will produce more cortisol which makes blood vessels enlarge to fit the extra blood which makes dark circles more visible. So, sleep 7-8 hours every night. Ultraviolet exposure will make dark circles under the eyes worse. Sunglasses will shield the skin from the sun and stop the onset of dark circles. Staying hydrated is vital to your body because your body responds to dehydration by retaining water, which causes puffiness and under-eye bags. It is the reason why drinking 3 to 4 liters of water per day prevents this.

On top of all, take good care of your eyes and go for regular eye exams. Having regular eye checkups will protect and treat your eyes well. It is not easy to neglect basic eye care. There are some common eye problems that people experience that will be prevented with routine eye care. Take care of your eyes and your vision is well-protected.
